Tiles Fittings Work of Building
Blog post description.

Tiles fitting work in a building is part of the finishing stage of construction. It involves the supply, laying, and fixing of tiles on floors, walls, and sometimes ceilings, depending on the architectural design. This is done after the main civil works are completed (like plastering, curing, etc.) and before painting or final fixture installations.
🧱 Scope of Tile Fitting Work in a Building
1. Surface Preparation
Cleaning the surface (dust, grease, debris)
Ensuring level base or applying screed to level uneven surfaces
Curing of base (for cement mortar bedding)
Application of waterproofing if required (especially in wet areas)
2. Selection of Tiles
Types of tiles:
Ceramic – cost-effective, for walls and floors
Vitrified – durable, glossy/matte, for floors
Porcelain – stronger, less porous
Mosaic – decorative, pools or bathrooms
Granite/Marble – luxury, natural stones
Anti-skid – for bathrooms and outdoor areas
3. Laying of Tiles
Dry laying (trial layout for alignment & joints)
Applying mortar or tile adhesive:
Cement mortar (1:3 or 1:4) for traditional method
Tile adhesive for faster, more precise work
Pressing and tapping the tiles to level
Maintaining uniform joint gaps using spacers
Cutting tiles to fit corners and edges using a tile cutter
4. Grouting
Filling joints with grout (colored or white/grey)
Waterproof grout in wet areas (kitchen/bathroom)
Cleaning excess grout immediately
5. Curing and Cleaning
Wet curing for mortar-based tiles (if required)
Final cleaning and polishing of tile surface
